The U.S. Army Birthday Ball

Since its establishment on June 14, 1775 the United States Army has played a vital role in the growth and development of our nation. American Soldiers have fought in 10 wars, from the American Revolution through the Cold War, the Gulf War and the current War on Terrorism. The Army Birthday Ball is designed to honor the proud history and heritage of our Nation.

The Army Birthday Ball will be held on Saturday, June 14th at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center Washington Hotel and is open to all Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve, Department of the Army Civilians, Government Contractors, Family Members, Retirees, Veterans and invited guests. It will be an elegant evening of dining, dancing and entertainment.

Time: Saturday, June 14, 2008, 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM (Check-in begins at 4:00 PM)

Location: The Ball will be at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center located at 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW, Washington, DC. Click here for directions to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Cost of Tickets: Ticket price is $80 per person. A limited number of discounted tickets are available to GS-7/E-6 and below on a first-come first-serve basis.

Attire: Civilian: Formal Evening Wear/Black Tie; Military: Dress Blues/Dress Mess/Class A with white shirt and bow tie (or equivalent for other services).

Registration and Tickets: Registration opens on April 7th. Register at Army Knowledge Online (AKO). If you have received an invitation from HQDA Protocol please register and pay online but do not make a seating selection.

Registration for the Army Birthday Ball 2008 can only be done via Army Knowledge Online for reasons of force protection. The registrant is the AKO account holder who signs onto AKO to register him or herself and possibly one or more guests for the Army Birthday Ball. The terms Sponsor and Registrant are equivalent.

On-line registration via AKO provides a confirmation number for the ticket price purchase and table selection. This e-ticket confirmation will be sent in the form of an e-mail to the registrant’s AKO e-mail address. The e-ticket is only for your records and is not necessary to get into the ball. The registration system will generate a by name roster based on the information entered during registration. There will be a 100% by name ID check to get into the Ball.
