Why Americans Should Support Our Troops

It never ceases to amaze me that people continue to equate supporting our troops with supporting war. I can't even begin to tell you how many times a day I have to say "Supporting our troops isn't a political statement" or "Supporting our troops has nothing to do with politics" and I really mean it.

H.J. Armstrong summed it up nicely today when she said "People forget that our troops play a vital role in disaster response and humanitarian efforts too." She's right, our troops do more than fight our wars, our troops serve our country in so many ways both at home and deployed so why shouldn't they have our support. They've volunteered to serve our country unselfishly and I think showing them a little support is the least we can do.

I could go on. However, I thought that instead of me telling you all the reasons why I think Americans should support our troops I'd open it up to you, our readers, to let us know.

I want to know why you think it's important for Americans to support our troops and why you think patriotism is still important. Why you do it?

It's all about you and why you believe we should all support our troops. As long as it's a positive post, and non-political we'll be happy to feature it here as a guest post and link back to your site.

Why Should You Support The Military? A One Word Answer

Having been in the Army for 7 years as an MP and Drill Sgt, I can tell you the most important time of the day is mail call. You get so worked up hoping that a letter will come to you or that a care package with goodies in it will come from home and then if you don't get a letter or packet or photo of a loved one... you are really disappointed. This is a great program, please if you care for our troops, tell them you care and are thinking and praying for them.

I've added a post to my blog about supporting the troops. I have learned a lot from my dad about what it's like to serve in the military. He is a WW2 vet. He still talks about what it was like during the war and I'm so glad that he does. I am proud of my dad. I am proud of our troops and appreciate them daily.

I think my Veteran's Day tribute says all I need to say. My use of the word "Veteran" includes those who are now serving.
