Purple Heart Awardee Army Captain Robert Jose Yllescas, 31

Army Captain Rob Yllescas, 31, succumbed yesterday, to injuries he received from an IED in Afghanistan.

Captain Yllescas was awarded the Purple Heart by President Bush at the National Navel Medical Center in Bethesda MD.

He was seriously wounded about five weeks ago in an explosion in Afghanistan, losing both legs and suffering head injuries. His wife, Dena Yllescas said she still does not have a detailed account of how her husband was injured. She's been told that he was struck by an improvised explosive device while walking. He commanded B Troop, 6-4 Cavalry of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. Captain Rob Yllescas was on his third and final deployment after serving two stints in Iraq.

Please take a moment to say a prayer for his family and those left behind by his loss and if possible leave a comment with a kind word of support on their blog: http://yllescasfamily.blogspot.com/
